National Mind smart Conclave 2025
On May 9, 2025, The Indian School participated in the National Mindsmart Conclave 2025 – The Life Skills and Well being Leadership Course for Senior School Peer Educators/Ambassadors.
The event took place at the National Science Centre, Pragati Maidan. Representing our School were Tanmay Virmani (IX-E), Taisha Manchanda (IX-B), Samriddhi Mehta (IX-C), and Harnoor Kaur Lamba (XI-D), under the guidance of Ms Meghna Joshi, School Counsellor.
The day began with registration, where participants were handed conference kits and grouped into colour-coded teams. This system was designed to encourage students to step outside their home groups and collaborate with a diverse mix of peers. Ice-breaking activities helped foster these new connections, setting the tone for the day's focus on leadership and navigating diverse perspectives.
Following the introductory activities, students gathered in the auditorium for the opening ceremony. The event was inaugurated with the arrival of chief guest, Mr Vineet Joshi, Secretary, Department of Higher Education. Mr Joshi has previously held several prominent positions in the education sector, including Chief Secretary of Manipur, Director-General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Education.
The inauguration began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a soulful musical performance by students. This was succeeded by a thought-provoking nukkad natak (street play) that powerfully captured adolescent dilemmas and their responses to contemporary challenges.
Mr Joshi then addressed the audience with an inspiring speech that emphasised the critical importance of mental health in today’s fast-paced and often uncertain world. He urged students to view mental well being not only as a personal responsibility but also as a shared, collective concern. His words motivated students to become advocates for emotional awareness and resilience within their communities.
After a short refreshment break, the student teams returned to the auditorium to present their reflections on pre-assigned themes, which included addiction, dysfunction, family bonding, and engagement with social differences. The Indian School team actively participated in these role plays and shared their insights, showcasing thoughtful perspectives on the broader topics of mental health and well being.
The conclave concluded with a session on how students can carry these themes and insights back to their schools and communities. The event set the foundation for continued engagement, with follow-up sessions scheduled for July and August, aiming to build upon the ideas generated during this workshop.
Our peer mentors returned with a wealth of learning, deep reflections, and actionable ideas to foster mental well being within our School environment.
