Class 10 visits the National Science Centre

On the occasion of International Museum Day, observed worldwide on 18 May 2026, the students of Class X visited the National Science Centre, accompanied by their teachers. The visit was organised in response to an invitation extended by the  Centre to participate in a series of exciting science programmes and activities specially curated for the occasion.

The educational excursion aimed to foster scientific curiosity, encourage experiential learning, and provide students with an enriching opportunity to explore the world of science beyond the classroom.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by the organisers, followed by a variety of engaging and informative activities. One of the major highlights of the celebration was the unveiling of the Conceptual Model of the 700 MWe Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor at the Hall of Nuclear Power, supported by NPCIL. The exhibit offered valuable insights into nuclear energy, its applications, and its significance in modern scientific and technological advancement.

The students also witnessed the launch of the new 3D science film, “Alien Horizons”, which provided an immersive and fascinating learning experience related to space exploration and scientific discovery.

Another exciting segment of the visit was the Special Exhibit Hunt Programme, in which students from 5 schools enthusiastically competed. The activity tested their observation skills, scientific understanding, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. The students of The Indian School performed exceptionally well and secured the first position in the competition, bringing great pride to the school.

The Open House Quiz Competition further added to the spirit of learning and healthy competition. Students actively participated and displayed remarkable awareness and knowledge related to science, museums, and innovation.

Following the formal programmes, the students explored various galleries and interactive exhibits at the Science Centre. They enthusiastically engaged with hands’-on scientific models, illusion displays, motion-based activities, mirror mazes, and several interactive demonstrations that made learning both enjoyable and meaningful. The students also visited exhibits showcasing historical manuscripts and typewriters, which highlighted the evolution of communication and documentation over the years.

Overall, the visit proved to be highly educational, informative, and enjoyable. It provided students with a valuable opportunity to enhance their scientific temper, broaden their understanding of technological developments, and appreciate the importance of museums as centres of knowledge and innovation. The students returned with enriching experiences, enhanced learning, and cherished memories of the day.
