Class 4 visits the Humayun's Tomb Museum and Sunder Nursery
On 28 April 2026, the students of Class IV, accompanied by their teachers, went on an educational excursion to the Humayun's Tomb Museum and Sunder Nursery. The trip was both enriching and enjoyable, offering participants a blend of learning and recreation. The visit began at Sunder Nursery, a 90-acre heritage park known for its green and peaceful environs. The students walked through the well-maintained pathways and spent time in the open green spaces, which helped them understand how urban revitalisation improves public spaces and contributes to community well-being through environmental care.
Following the nature walk, the group visited the Humayun's Tomb Museum, which offered insight into the art, architecture, and culture of the Nizamuddin area. The museum is designed to showcase curated themes developed after years of research, presenting information in an engaging manner for a 21st-century audience. This part of the excursion aimed to promote an understanding of the cultural and aesthetic practices that flourished during the Mughal era at this World Heritage Site.
Inside the museum, the students explored a vast collection of over 500 artefacts, including Mughal miniatures, manuscripts, coins, astrolabes, and stone inscriptions. These exhibits helped the students appreciate the diversity of Mughal heritage and understand the legacy of Emperor Humayun. The museum also reflects the pluralistic traditions that have shaped Hindustani culture over a millennium, serving as a meaningful link between history and the present.
The initiative behind this heritage site, led by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, has transformed the area through collaborative efforts with the Archaeological Survey of India and other local authorities. This partnership has created an exemplary model of urban revitalisation that integrates heritage conservation with community development.
Overall, the excursion was a memorable experience that allowed the students to connect with nature and deepen their appreciation for the country's rich cultural legacy.
