Classes 11 and 12 learn basic Life-Saving Skills

As part of the “Science Week” celebrations, School had the privilege of hosting Dr Surya Kumar Dube, Professor in the Department of Neuro anaesthesiology and Neurocritical Care at AIIMS, New Delhi. He conducted an engaging and informative session on basic life-saving skills for the students of classes 11 and 12.

Dr Dube spoke about the importance of giving timely and correct first aid before professional medical help arrives. The students learnt how to check responsiveness, pulse and breathing in an unresponsive victim and how to begin CPR when needed. In the case of choking, he drmonstrated the use of abdominal thrusts and back blows to clear the airway. For drowning incidents, he demonstrated safe rescue techniques along with rescue breaths and CPR. In addition, he advised students on what to do during a snake bite, stressing the need to keep the victim calm, immobilise the affected limb and seek urgent medical help without harmful practices. 

The session gave the students more than just awareness. It equipped them with practical knowledge that could help them save lives in real emergencies.
