Diverse activities across the classes on National Mathematics Day 2025

Our School observed National Mathematics Day on 22 December 2025, commemorating the birth anniversary of the legendary Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, whose unparalleled contributions continue to inspire generations. Instituted by the Government of India in 2012, this day serves as a tribute to Ramanujan’s genius and underscores the indispensable role of mathematics in shaping both scientific thought and everyday life.

Moving beyond conventional textbook learning, the celebration highlighted Mathematics as a practical life skill, integral to financial literacy, time management, logical reasoning and digital technology. To reinforce this perspective, students from various classes enthusiastically participated in art-integrated and experiential activities that brought mathematical concepts to life.

The students of class IV explored the fundamentals of Three-dimensional Geometry through thread-pull models, enabling them to visually identify edges, faces and vertices, thereby transforming abstract ideas into tangible understanding.

Class V was introduced to Rotational Symmetry through vibrant pinwheels, allowing them to observe patterns and repetition through motion.

Class VI blended creativity with geometry by designing symmetrical masks and windmills, reinforcing the concept of Balance and Proportion.

The students of class VII delved into the world of patterns and designs by constructing six-pointed stars and exploring the intricate beauty of Tessellations.

Class VIII expressed mathematics through art by creating Fractal-based Pop-up greeting cards and informative posters, showcasing the fascinating relationship between mathematics and nature.

A special assembly for classes VII and VIII added vibrancy to the celebration and featured a variety of engaging segments.

The celebration successfully conveyed that mathematics is deeply woven into art, nature and everyday experiences. By seamlessly blending creativity with logic, the event helped dispel the “fear of numbers” and encouraged students to view mathematics as an engaging discipline, thus carrying forward the enduring spirit of Ramanujan’s genius.
