Hindi Sahitya Saptah 2026 across the classes
To promote a love for the Hindi language and literature while nurturing creativity and effective communication, The Indian School observed Hindi Sahitya Saptah from 27 to 31 July 2026. The week-long celebration provided students with a vibrant platform to explore the richness of Hindi through literary activities, storytelling, creative writing, public speaking, and interactive workshops.
The celebrations commenced with “Kavita Ke Rang – Props aur Veshbhusha Ke Sang” for Classes I and II, where students confidently recited poems dressed in colourful costumes and using creative props. Students of Classes III, IV, and V participated in “Kitabon Sang Charcha, Kathputli Ke Sang Kahani”, engaging in lively discussions about their favourite books and presenting captivating puppet-based storytelling performances.
For Class VI, a “Doha Recitation” activity introduced students to the timeless wisdom of Kabir, Rahim, and other renowned poets. Students not only recited the dohas with clear pronunciation and expression, but also explained their meanings.
Class VII students showcased their imagination through “Buno Kahani, Bookmark Ki Zubani”, where they crafted colourful bookmarks and used them as prompts to compose and narrate original stories.
The students of Class VIII enthusiastically participated in “Travelogue Writing” activity, presenting beautifully written accounts of real and imaginary journeys.
Class IX students demonstrated their oratory and artistic talents through a Speech Competition on themes such as “Hindi – Our Identity” and “Hindi in the Digital Age”. They also presented illustrated dialogues based on the lives and literary works of celebrated Hindi authors, creatively bringing literature to life.
Class X students participated in a “Colourful Advertisement Design” activity, composing persuasive advertisements in Hindi promoting social awareness, reading, cleanliness, and indigenous products.
A major highlight of the celebration was a series of inspiring sessions conducted by 3 distinguished guest speakers. On 28 July 2026, Dr Prabhat Ranjan, Associate Professor, Department of Hindi, Zakir Husain College, University of Delhi, interacted with the students of Classes IX and X. Through discussions on literature, writing, and the works of eminent authors, he encouraged them to develop reading and writing habits while embracing modern platforms such as blogs, e-books, and Artificial Intelligence as tools for learning. His session inspired students to approach literature with curiosity, confidence, and perseverance.
On 29 July 2026, Dr Prachi Kalra, Associate Professor, Department of Elementary Education, Gargi College, University of Delhi, conducted a delightful storytelling session for Classes IV, V, and VI. Using engaging props, including a model ship, she narrated “Jaadui Safar”, a story based on the theme of migration, and shared fascinating folktales from Ireland. Her interactive storytelling style captivated the young audience and encouraged imagination, participation, and a deeper appreciation for stories.
On 30 July 2026, Colonel Sanjay Chaturvedi, an officer of the Indian Army, acclaimed motivational speaker, and litterateur, addressed thestudents of Classes VII to XI. He encouraged them to become solution-oriented thinkers, record their ideas regularly, cultivate lifelong learning, and appreciate literature, music, and the arts. Emphasising discipline, perseverance, and self-belief, he reminded students that true success is earned through consistent effort rather than luck.
The week concluded on a highly inspiring note, leaving students with memorable experiences and valuable learning. “Hindi Sahitya Saptah 2026” successfully celebrated the richness of Hindi language and literature while fostering creativity, confidence, communication skills, and a lifelong appreciation for reading and learning. The event proved to be an enriching and meaningful experience for the entire School community.
