Interactive session with a doctor for Pre primary on the occasion of National Doctor's Day activity
“Where science meets soul, and healing begins — a doctor is the heartbeat of humanity.”
In a world full of uncertainty, there are a few who carry both courage and compassion in their hearts. Doctors are not just professionals — they are healers, listeners, protectors, and sometimes, even miracles in disguise. On 1st July, the Pre School and Pre Primary Department of The Indian School celebrated National Doctor’s Day with great enthusiasm and purpose. The event aimed to honour the dedication and selfless service of doctors in our lives while nurturing awareness about health and hygiene among our young learners.
We were privileged to welcome Dr Pooja Jain, a respected doctor and faculty member at Lady Hardinge Medical College, as our esteemed guest. Dr Jain plays a vital role in shaping the minds of future doctors by teaching them about the human body and healthy living — all while making learning fun and impactful.
The celebration began with a warm welcome by Head Teacher, Ms Vandana Tiwari, who presented Dr Jain with a token of love and appreciation.
Dr Jain engaged the children with an interactive and colourful PowerPoint presentation, introducing them to:
Healthy eating habits
The importance of balanced meals
Benefits of fruits, vegetables, and milk
The harmful effects of excessive sugar and junk food
Daily habits like brushing the teeth twice and regular handwashing to keep germs away
Using simple language, relatable visuals, and real-life examples, Dr Jain guided the children to understand how small choices can lead to big health benefits. She gently explained how too much sweet can lead to toothaches and stomach issues, encouraging children to make better food choices.
The session clearly achieved its learning goals. The children were able to:
Recognise doctors as caregivers
Identify healthy vs. unhealthy food
Understand the importance of personal hygiene
The curiosity and enthusiasm was evident throughout. The interactive visuals and storytelling approach helped the children absorb the concepts effectively.
The event concluded with a heart warming “Thank you, Doctor!” from the children — a moment of pure joy and gratitude.
This celebration not only paid tribute to our medical heroes but also sowed the seeds of healthy living and self-care in young minds. It was a day filled with learning, laughter, and lasting inspiration.
