Special Assembly on Raksha Bandhan and Gender Equality by PS Delphini

Gender equality and cultural celebrations are integral to early childhood education. Raksha Bandhan, a festival deeply rooted in Indian tradition, provided a meaningful platform for the little ones of Pre School Delphini to explore these values. On 8 August 2025, the budding Indianites came together to present a vibrant and heartfelt assembly that beautifully blended tradition with progressive thought.

The celebration began on a cheerful note with Aarvi Nagpal’s warm welcome address, which set the tone for the morning. This was followed by a delightful dance performance to the song “God Loves”, through which the children expressed their gratitude for life’s many blessings.

The highlight of the assembly was a thought-provoking skit presented by Shivangi, Kairav, Rudransh, Lavish, Atul, Urvi, Ahaana and Livroop. With innocence and charm, the little performers conveyed a powerful message that Raksha Bandhan is not limited to the traditional ritual of sisters tying rakhis to brothers, but is a celebration of mutual love, respect and care. In keeping with our School tradition, the boys tied rakhis to the girls and equally the girls to the boys, beautifully symbolising that this festival transcends gender and celebrates universal love and equality.

In sync with the spirit of sustainability, the young learners tied eco-friendly rakhis crafted from waste material such as paper scrap and old newspapers. These rakhis contained seeds that could grow into plants when sown. This creative initiative not only encouraged eco-consciousness but also instilled in the children the values of responsibility and care for nature.

The skit concluded with the children holding hands and joyfully declaring, “We are all equal” earning thunderous applause from the audience.

Adding to the festive spirit, the children danced to the lively beats of the song, “Hokey Pokey”, filling the atmosphere with rhythm and joy.

The Raksha Bandhan celebration at Pre School Delphini was thus much more than a festival. It became a memorable learning experience, where the children discovered the essence of equality, celebrated the joy of togetherness, and embraced the importance of protecting the environment. The day was a heart-warming reminder that even the youngest minds can inspire change when nurtured with the right values.
