CHESS ZONALS 2026-27 held at our School

The Indian School organised the Zonal Chess Tournament 2026–27 from 7 to 10 July 2026. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various schools across Zone-23, with about 35 teams competing in the boys’ categories and 20 teams competing in the girls’ categories. The tournament provided young chess players  an excellent platform to showcase their strategic thinking, concentration, and sportsmanship.

All necessary arrangements were made to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the tournament across all the four days. Alongside its role as an organiser, our School also fielded its own teams in the competition and delivered an outstanding performance by securing top positions in multiple categories.

The tournament was conducted across three categories — Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior, with matches held over four consecutive days to accommodate the large number of participating teams. Games were played in a competitive round format, with arbiters overseeing each match to ensure fair play and adherence to standard chess rules. The event was marked by a spirit of healthy competition, camaraderie, and mutual respect among participants.

This achievement is a testament to the School’s continued emphasis on nurturing chess as both a co-curricular activity and a means of developing analytical thinking, patience and decision-making skills among students. Regular practice sessions and guidance from the School chess coaches played a significant role in preparing the teams for this tournament, and the results reflect the strength of this ongoing effort.
