On 8 July 2026, the students of Class 5B at The Indian School, New Delhi, under the guidance of Ms Rhytham Massey, participated in an engaging Mystery Skype session with students of Kansai University Junior High School in Osaka, Japan.
The session began with an exciting geography challenge in which the students of both schools worked together to identify each other's country by asking only yes/no questions. Equipped with maps, the atlas, and a globe on either side, they analysed geographical clues related to location, climate, language, landmarks, national symbols, and popular sports. The activity encouraged students to apply their geographical knowledge, think critically, and collaborate effectively before successfully identifying each other's countries.
Following the challenge, the virtual interaction continued with a lively exchange about school life and daily experiences. Students shared information about their routines, school systems, modes of transport, and classroom culture. They also explored each other's traditions, festivals, food, and lifestyles through thoughtful questions, gaining a deeper understanding of one another's cultures.
The session concluded with a delightful cultural exchange. Our students then presented a melodious Sargam on the flute and introduced their Japanese peers to simple Hindi greetings such as Namaste and Dhanyavaad. In return, the students in Japan taught their Indian friends, some common Japanese expressions, making the interaction both meaningful and memorable.
The Mystery Skype session provided an enriching platform for global learning, fostering curiosity, communication skills, cultural appreciation, and international friendship among the young learners.
