Senior students attend IIIT Delhi Open House

The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, New Delhi hosted the "IIIT Delhi Open House" for B.Tech aspirants on 24 May, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to familiarise attendees with the institute’s infrastructure, facilities, research culture, and academic ethos through first-hand observation and direct interaction with faculty and student representatives. A total of 18 students from The Indian School attended the event, accompanied by their teachers, Ms Anupriya, Mr Mohd Abuzar, and Mr Karmendra, whose guidance added valuable context through the visit.

The group first visited the lecture halls used primarily by first-year students, followed by the R&D department, housing the administrative offices. The professors’ hostel, although off-limits to students, was pointed out, and it was noted that many international faculty members contribute to the institute’s diverse academic environment.

The group then explored the library building. The first and third floors remain open 24/7 for studying, while the second floor serves as the main library, operating from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The students also visited the laboratories, witnessing both completed projects and ongoing research. The sports complex, featuring an olympic-sized swimming pool on the ground floor and facilities for table tennis, squash, and gym activities on the first floor, highlighted the institute’s commitment to physical well-being.

The visit concluded with a session led by Mr Sakshat, who shared information on summer internship opportunities since 2018, campus recruiters, placement statistics, and the research department. The group also learned that IIIT Delhi holds the world record for the “Largest Camera Trap Wildlife Survey” and supports over 150 sponsored research projects and more than 50 research laboratories. The institute offers interdisciplinary and specialised undergraduate programmes such as Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Computer Science and Applied Mathematics (CSAM), Computer Science and Design (CSD), Computer Science and Social Sciences (CSSS), Computer Science and Biosciences (CSB), and Computer Science with Economics (CSEco). These programmes aim to provide a strong foundation in computer science along with focused domain expertise.

Life at IIIT Delhi blends technical rigour with extracurricular engagement through a vibrant range of student clubs.
