The 22nd Annual Dr Amidas Goradia Inter School Hindi Debate and the 8th Sanskrit Vachan Kaushal Pratiyogita 2026
On 5 August 2026, The Indian School hosted the 22nd Annual Dr Amidas Goradia Inter School Hindi Debate and the 8th Sanskrit Vachan Kaushal Pratiyogita, bringing together students from top schools across Delhi-NCR, to celebrate the richness of Indian languages and providing them with a meaningful platform to develop confidence, communication skills, logical reasoning and effective expression.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a warm welcome to distinguished guests, judges and the participating schools. The occasion was graced by Dr Mrs Nayana Goradia, Vice Chairperson, and Principal Ms Tania Joshi. Mr Ameesh Devgan, noted journalist, news presenter and media analyst, was chief guest.
The Hindi Debate was adjudicated by Prof. Dr Rajat Rani Arya and Dr Sangeeta Verma, while Dr Jyoti and Dr Khemraj Regmi constituted the jury for the Sanskrit Vachan Kaushal Pratiyogita. The participants displayed remarkable confidence and enthusiasm, demonstrating clarity of thought, well-structured arguments, fluency and effective expression. Following their performances, the judges interacted with the students and shared valuable suggestions and constructive feedback, encouraging them to further hone their public speaking, presentation and communication skills.
The Hindi Debate featured thought-provoking and contemporary topics like
- Kahani ki kitabein nahi online gyaan, screen ka jaadu sabse mahaan.
- Sapno ko pankh mile, to har bachcha Vaibhav Suryavanshi ki tarah hit kare.
- Kya bahane banane ki kala bhi ek vishay hona chahiye?
- WhatsApp parivaar ka naya baithak-khana ban gaya hai.
- Maa ka “bas bhi karo ab” se zyada taakatvar hai bachche ka “Bas thodi der aur”.
The participants presented compelling arguments for and against the given motions. Speakers were evaluated on content depth, clarity, time management, pronunciation, confidence and adherence to the prescribed time limit. The competition witnessed impressive performances, reflecting the students’ depth of thought, command over the language and the ability to articulate their viewpoints persuasively.
In a closely contested event, Raghubir Singh Junior Modern School, Humayun Road, emerged as overall winner and lifted the prestigious Rolling Trophy, while Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, secured the runner's-up position. In the Best Speaker category, Tanish Juneja of G.D. Goenka School, Vasant Kunj secured the First Position, followed by Atharv Singh of class VA of The Indian School in the Second Position. Kiana Vanvaria of Bluebells School International secured the Third Position.
The Sanskrit Vachan Kaushal Pratiyogita was conducted in two categories, offering students an opportunity to showcase their fluency, storytelling ability and presentation skills in Sanskrit. Students of classes VI and VII presented stories based on Subhashitas and Shlokas, while students of classes VIII to X presented historical speeches in Sanskrit. Sanchay of class VII D of The Indian School secured the Second Prize in Kahani Vachan.
The event concluded with the prize giving ceremony, followed by a vote of thanks.
The competitions proved to be an enriching and inspiring experience for all the participants. Beyond being platforms for competition, they encouraged students to think critically, express themselves with confidence and appreciate the beauty and relevance of Indian languages. The event reaffirmed the enduring importance of language, respectful dialogue, logical reasoning and effective communication in shaping confident and responsible young individuals.
