A team of young aspiring mathematics enthusiasts of The Indian School participated in Vortex 2026, a two-day inter-school mathematics competition conducted online by Delhi Public School, Rohini, on 25th and 26th July 2026. Comprising five distinctive events, the fest became a vibrant arena where talented Indianites displayed their mathematical aptitude and creativity with aplomb.
The online duel commenced with Crossword that saw Anirvinaya Gupta of XI-B and Aarav Bansal of XII-A tackle puzzles brimming with thought-provoking puns and mathematical concepts. Their collaborative analytical brilliance shone through, earning them the First Position.
In the surprise event, Unexpected, Mahak Mahto of XI-B and Saksham Agarwal of XII-B qualified the prelims effortlessly from among 40 participants, a testament to their adaptability and problem-solving prowess.
The third event, War-Tex unfolded as a dynamic group discussion. Ishita Goswami of XII-A exhibited her communication and critical thinking skills with poise, delivering an impressive performance on the thought-provoking theme, Uncertainty in Mathematics.
The array of scintillating events designed to give wings to the children’s imagination included Constraint X, a design challenge that demanded visual art within strict parameters. Rising to the occasion, Vivaan Gupta of class VA blended imagination with discipline to craft remarkable work. His creation — London Bridge and mathematical domains — stood as a testament to how creativity can harmonise with logic, transforming boundaries into opportunities for brilliance.
The last competition was MonoTex, in which comic strips became the canvas of mathematical storytelling seamlessly blending narrative artistry with the rigour of problemsolving. Mehar Arora of VIIC embraced the challenge with imaginative flair and inventive precision, to create a veritable symphony of logic and art.
The Fest concluded on an enriching cerebral and creative note. The participants discovered the infinite range of mathematics, a discipline not confined to abstract numbers but extending into art, design, and communication, thereby broadening their intellectual horizons.
